Rick Weil joins LiveHive Systems Board of Advisors
JUNE 20, 2007 - WATERLOO, ONTARIO: LiveHive Systems, a Waterloo-based company that is taking a pioneering role in interactive TV, is pleased to announce that Rick Weil has joined its Board of Advisors. Mr. Weil manages his own consulting and advisory business, assisting companies in the interactive marketplace. He was formerly President of FUN Technologies Inc. (TSX/AIM: FUN), a market leader in two of the fastest-growing sectors of interactive online gaming -- fantasy sport services and skill gaming.
“Rick is a tremendous addition to the LiveHive Advisory Board,” said Dave Bullock, President and Co-founder of LiveHive Systems, and Chair of the Advisory Board. “He has an impressive background in delivering fantasy sport and interactive gaming solutions to top internet destinations. He will be an invaluable asset as we position LiveHive as the technology leader providing two-screen interactive entertainment solutions.”
On the Advisory Board, Mr. Weil will be the company’s specialist in fantasy sports and digital content. During his three years as President of FUN, he helped raise approximately $80 million (US) to fuel the acquisition of eight interactive companies. He oversaw management of these business units and assisted in the March, 2006 sale of 51 per cent of FUN to Liberty Media Corporation (Nasdaq: LINTA), which was valued at about $200 million (US).
“I am very excited about joining the Board of Advisors for LiveHive Systems,” said Mr. Weil. “The team at LiveHive understands the critical role of interactivity in today’s media networks, and has a track record of success to prove it. Their NanoGaming technology is at the tipping point of radically transforming how people interact with TV programming and live sporting events.”
Prior to joining FUN, Mr. Weil was the Corporate Vice President of International Business Development for Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq:SGMS). Before that he was a senior management consultant at Monitor Company, a top-ten strategic planning and corporate development firm.
Mr. Weil has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Ryerson University in Toronto and has an MBA from New York University.
