LiveHive Joins Forces with CBC Sports to Make the Stanley Cup Playoffs Interactive
Starting tonight, hockey viewers can be part of the action
MAY 8 , 2008 - WATERLOO, ONTARIO: LiveHive Systems™, a pioneer in interactive television, announced today that it has signed an agreement with CBC Sports that brings its interactive entertainment technology to millions of viewers who will be watching the final two rounds of this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs.
“CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada wanted to enhance their online environment that gives Canadians a place to dialogue with other fans, and become more deeply engaged and active participants of the hockey playoffs,” said Robert Riopelle, Co-Founder and Vice President, Business Development, LiveHive Systems. “The NanoGaming platform does just that.”
Throughout the NHL Playoffs, hockey fans have visited www.CBCSports.ca on their computer, and linked to the Hockey Night in Canada Playoff Tracker. This is CBC’s enhanced, interactive environment which includes live video streaming of all CBC playoff games, live chats during games, instant updates from other playoff games, as well as breaking news, live in-depth stats, broadcast schedules, and more.
The added NanoGaming components of the Hockey Night in Canada Playoff Tracker, which are available in Round Three and the Stanley Cup Final, will enable visitors to compete with each other by making predictions, answering instant trivia, and participating in poll questions. This is all in real-time during games, with chances to win great prizes, and is completely free to the viewer.
“We are excited about adding a new phase to the CBC HNIC Tracker that brings our users a fun and interactive way to become even more involved with our broadcast and platform,” said Christos Nikitopoulos, Director, Sports Partnership & Digital Content, CBC Sports.
Earlier this year, LiveHive brought its NanoGaming technology to live telecasts of the NBA’s Toronto Raptors and the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs. NanoGaming has also been featured on football, baseball, NASCAR, Mixed Martial Arts, and reality TV.
